Compose Your Own Ukulele Tablature Song! Is a Hawaiian themed composing assessment/activity to get your students using their creativity to create their own ukulele song. This is a fun way to assess your students' ability to create music. The first page gives a space for the student to write their name (composer) and a space for them to write the title of their song. There are four lines of tablature on the first page and five lines of tablature on the second page. Each line of tablature has an additional line underneath it for students to write their own lyrics. This, of course is optional, depending on your own requirements for your students. You can reprint as many of the second page as you need, depending on how long you want your students' song to be.
You can extend this activity to meet the performing standards assessment by having each student perform their completed ukulele song composition for their class!
